One of the current theories about male homosexuality is that it's caused by exposure to low or fluctuating levels of testosterone during fetal development. In particular, there are critical periods of brain development of male fetuses when they must be exposed to testosterone (produced by their immature testes) in order to develop 'male' brain structures, otherwise they will default to a 'female' brain. Males really are hard-wired when it comes to certain attributes such as sexual attraction and aggression. If the hormonal environment is not right at the correct times, a boy's brain will get 'wired' the wrong way.
