I note on the drug imiages page there are pics of various metformin preperations, but no profile

What roll does it play, does it help build muscle, cut flab, both, or neither?

Metformin/Glucophage is prescribed for Diabetes Phase 2. It increases insulin sensitivity. So for BBers taking it after a workout then loading with sugar and protein guarantees the muscles being fed well. This should maximize anabolism.

Is this the same reason chromium is *said* to aid muscle growth? Any baisi to that, or is it just marketing blurb?

I have no idea how chromium would aid in anabolism.

Ah but have we heard any BBers that actually use chromium for this. I know I haven't. But if anyone that knows any different I'll be glad to learn.

I suspect that is it marketing hype (persons with low blood levels of chromium have a decreased response to insulin, which returns when their levels are normalised. I guess from this, the pill sellers extrapolated that taking extra increases insulin response. Unfortunatly the body dont work that wya)

Similar to the Zinc hype. Zinc causes an increase in Test production in those who were deficient in zinc but doesn't in those that keep their zinc levels up. And those that keep zinc levels too high risk cancer.
