Default Migraine

I periodically get migraines. Normally about two or three a year, and these will generally be caused by eating something that doesn't agree with me. In recent months i have had more than normal. I did 250mg of sust two weeks on two weeks of for three months. ( And before i get shot down for this i gained 14lbs and my strength went right up). About three weeks into my off phase i had maybe 3 migraines in 4 days. The only reason i could think of was changes in the water levels in my body coming off.

I am now 1 month into a similar cycle but withh 500mg a week. And this week i have had another 3, and again i cannot pin them down to anything in particualr.

I know migraines are caused by a whole myriad of reasons, but does anyone think that gear useage could trigger them?

with gaining 14 lbs rapidly your blood pressure could be causing it.

Two words "Side Effects". Read the profile of each aas and they each list headaches or migraines as a side effect. Some are more sensitive to them than others.

I am another 7lbs up now as well. I guess blood pressure could be causing it.

I am finding the on off of these cycles is helping to keep my nuts working.

So it looks like i have to decide between keeping using and some migraines. I will keep using unless things get much worse, but i will let you know.

thanks for the help guys.

Just stop this frequent on and off thing and get yourself some HCG if youre doing it to prevent TA. Blood pressure is nothing to play with my friend.

k man... i know some people love this two week on two week off thing - but one thing bro - look at the compound ur using and whats in it .... if you havent guessed it yet ... theres a DECONATE ester in sust ... so this two week on two week off stuff ur doing is totally irelevant - your still going to have TEST in your system - the only thing you accomplish by doing this is - fuck with ur body - ur body starts to stabalzie and then theres a suddden drop in test - then a sudden spike - then a drop then a spike ... its not good man - deconate ester gives the anabolic/androgenic substance it is attached to an active life of 3 to 4 weeks ...

i think you get the message man - your not giving your body a two week break from anabolics - ur just fucking with it - because it still detects elevated test levels

role models right man - this rollercoaster is gonna cause sides - you know why they say more stable levels - less sides? this is why dude

id do an 8 week cycle of straight anabolics any day over 3months of two on two off ... why? becuase regardless of what you think - your body is shut down for those three months or those 8 weeks - the 8 weeks is gonna do jack all damage if your smart .. hell id rather do 3months straight on then two weeks on two weeks off -

now im not trying to insult this way of using anabolics - but the train of thought behind this method was to use short acting esters - things like propionate or acetate ester based substances ...

anyways those are my two cents man ... ohh and regardless of what you think - it isnt helping your nuts not shrink ... trust me - Your Hypthalamus is the one that detects the elevated test levels - its the one that tells your pituitary not to produce Leutenizing Hormone ... so your still getting negative feed back to your leydig cells during those two weeks off ..... Your not keeping ur boys up to par - id be willing to bet money on that dude - unless of course you are using some HCG ...

Guys, I do know these things. I am aware there are long acting esters in sust, so i know that i am not going back to zero with two weeks off. All I am trying to do is maximise gains from minimum of use. This cycle was suggested to me by a pro bber that i know and trust. So far i have had zero sides apart from some migraines. I am 21+ lbs up and all my lifts are way up.

What i am also trying to do is limit receptor down regulation. I am gaining more than some of my friends are on 5mil per week of tmax and dbol (I know they are nuts but they wont listen to sense).

I am going to sticky with this for the time being and see how things go.

Hey, don't get me wrong, im not saying i am right and you are all wrong. I am just willing to experiment with my useage. I could see no point in doing a 'standard' cycle first and then trying two on two off at a later stage. If i continue to get migraines then i will have to ditch this protocol, but there is no promise that will sort things out. I used creatine for years with no sides and then that started to give me migraines, same with glutamine.

I really do listen and learn, but i listen to everyone and make up my own mind. in six months i may well be saying that i was dumb to use this protocol and wasted time energy and gear. but until i have tried it i won't know.

Try using some 5-HTP from the health store.
It's a naturally occurring herbal identical of Serotonin, which relaxes the body and brain.
GREAT for migraines.

I am in complete agreement with Bman and everyone else. Your are just screwing with you body. I have had BP headaches from cycles that I have been on that if I even move I throw up/dry heave. Most the time there is nothing you can do about it because it is a side effect. Sometimes baby aspirin work well also. I will back down dosages if they keep occurring. I am going to try what Jasthace recco also, I have tried gaba and that seemed to help with some other issues which is what a precursor to 5 htp, so I am going to try it for headaches. Good looking out Jasthace.

I have never come across that before.

5-Hydroxytryptophan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Has a lot of info and i think overplays the sides

Will give it a try.

Default Re: Migraine

My Wife suffers from Migraines,we've found 5-htp to be very effective

How does 5-HTP benefit headache sufferers?
Because chronic headache sufferers have low levels of serotonin in their tissues, some researchers refer to migraine and chronic headaches as a "low serotonin syndrome" (15). There have been several clinical studies with 5-HTP in headaches, both migraine and tension headaches, that have showed excellent results (15-20). In particular, the use of 5-HTP in the prevention of migraine headache offers considerable advantages over drug therapy. Although a number of drugs have been shown to be useful in the prevention of migraine headaches, all of them carry significant side effects. In contrast, 5-HTP is very safe.
5HTP helps control appetite, insomnia, mood and fibromyalgia

Migraine headaches are primarily caused by excessive dilation of blood vessels in the head. 15-20% of men and 25-30% of women suffer with migraine headaches. Many migraines come without warning and some start with a visual "aura" before the onset of pain which can also include blurring or bright spots in the vision, anxiety, fatigue, disturbed thinking, and numbness or tingling on one side of the body. Migraine pain occurs when the blood vessels and muscles lining the brain and scalp becomes stretched or tensed. Migraine headaches seem to be connected to the instability of blood vessels in the brain and to a reduction in blood flow during a migraine attack. Research studies also indicate that the control of blood vessel constriction and dilation is impaired in some migraine sufferers.

Additionally, the platelets of migraine sufferers are different from normal platelets both during and between migraine attacks. Platelets are small blood cells that clump together to form blood clots. The difference between platelets results in migraine sufferers having a significant increase in spontaneous clumping together of the platelets as well as in a reduction in the release of a chemical called serotonin

Serotonin aids in the chemical transfer of information from one cell to another. More importantly for migraine sufferers, serotonin also plays a major role in the relaxation and constriction of blood vessels. All of the serotonin in the blood is stored in the platelets and is released by platelet aggregation. This release in migraine sufferers appears to result in a serotonin deficiency. These low serotonin levels are thought to lead to a decrease in the pain threshold of these patients. This concept is strongly supported by 35 years of research, including positive clinical results in double blind studies with the serotonin precursor 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP). These and other studies show that increasing serotonin levels in the platelets leads to relief from chronic migraine headaches.

Hydoxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an amino acid that occurs in the body and is an immediate precursor to the body manufacturing its own serotonin. 5-HTP is widely distributed in the body with the highest activity in the gut wall and liver. Here's what happens chemically in the body in the process of creating serotonin. First tryptophan is hydroxylated to 5-HTP then to decarboxylase and finally to serotonin. The effects of

5-HTP on the serotonin system is extremely complex because there are multiple types of serotonin receptors.

The research shows 5-HTP is more effective over time with results increasing after 30 days of use. The role of 5-HTP also increases endorphin levels, which is the body’s own pain relieving and mood elevating substances. See Swanson 5-HTP Research shows endorphins are low in migraine sufferers. 5-HTP is at least as effective as other pharmacological agents used in migraine prevention but is safer and better tolerated. In clinical trials between 200-600 mg/day has been used to prevent and reduce the severity of migraines. 5-HTP also needs vitamin B6, niacin, and magnesium to help it convert to serotonin.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is involved in the production of the neurotransmitters dopamine, serotonin and histamine. B6 works to prevent and treat migraines because of its role in histamine function. The activity of the enzyme diamine oxidase breaks down histamine in the lining of the small intestine before it is absorbed into the circulation. Individuals sensitive to dietary histamine have about one-half as much diamine oxidase in their tissues. Diamine oxidase is a vitamin B6 dependent enzyme. Therefore compounds that inhibit B6 also inhibit the production of diamine oxidase.

Food coloring agents like FD&C yellow #5, birth control pills, alcohol, and excessive protein intake are some of the things that inhibit B6 production. Most people take in more B6 blockers than B6 itself. B6 supplementation has been shown to relieve histamine-induced headaches presumably by increasing diamine oxidase activity. Vitamin B6 works with magnesium in many enzyme systems and assists in the body’s accumulation of magnesium.

Vitamin B2

Migraine headaches have also been linked to a reduction of energy production in the blood vessels of the brain. B2 (Riboflavin) is water soluble and essential to tissue respiration and generation of energy metabolism from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Recent studies show that it is helpful in the treatment of migraines. Migraines can also occur because of a reduction of energy in the mitochondria and B2 can help increase energy production and efficiency in this area. B2 is also vital to the conversion of tryptophan to B3.

Vitamin B3

B3 (Niacin) is water soluble and crucial to about 50 different reactions in the body. It is instrumental in the release of energy from carbohydrates, proper central nervous system function, fat and cholesterol metabolism, and the regulation of blood sugar levels. Fifty percent of the niacin in the body comes from the conversion of the amino acid tryptophan.

Vitamin B5

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic) acid is known as the anti-stress vitamin and helps with the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins for energy. It helps counteract stress by making cortisone and other adrenal hormones that counteract stress. B5 is needed for proper adrenal cortex function.

Vitamin B9

Low Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid) intakes have been linked to headaches. It has been used to treat depression, headaches, and inflammation. Folic acid and niacin need each other to function correctly in the body.

Magnesium

Low magnesium levels play a significant role in many cases of migraine headaches. Low brain and tissue magnesium concentrations have been found in patients with migraines indicating the need for supplementation since magnesium’s key function is to maintain the tone of the blood vessels and prevent the over-excitability of nerve cells.

Another possible benefit of magnesium is its ability to improve mitral valve prolaspe that damages blood platelets causing them to release excess histamine, platelet-activating factor, and serotonin. Magnesium has also been widely used to treat food-allergy-induced migraines.

Feverfew

Feverfew literally means fever reducing. Feverfew works to treat and prevent migraines by inhibiting the release of blood vessel dilating-substances from platelets, inhibiting the production of inflammatory substances, and reestablishing proper blood vessel tone. The effectiveness of feverfew is dependent upon adequate levels of parthenolide. Parthenolide helps prevent migraines and lessen the severity of existing migraines by making smooth muscle in the walls of cerebral blood vessels less reactive to vasoconstrictors. It blocks the release of serotonin from blood vessels and prevents platelets from over-aggregating. It also inhibits the release of compounds from the cells that cause inflammation.

Ginger

Ginger has been shown to significantly reduce the effects of migraines by reducing inflammation and platelet aggregation. High doses of ginger have also been found to significantly reduce migraine intensity. It plays a role as a circulatory stimulant, peripheral vasodilator, and antispasmodic.

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba is an antioxidant known for its ability to improve circulation throughout the body but especially in the brain. It helps to inhibit platelet aggregation. Ginkgo, which is partially composed ginkgoflavoneglycosides, helps dilate blood vessels, which increases blood flow.
