Nizoral for acne

Hey, I just tried ketoconazole (nizoral) shampoo on my face and shoulders to treat AAS induced acne with fantastic success.

I'm only taking TRT (100mg/week) but it's enough to give me acne that I otherwise would not have. I'm fairly sure it would work on acne induced by higher doses as well.

The only downside is a bit of soreness and dryness, mostly on my nose and cheekbones. I've been using it twice per day, and it may be possible to prevent the acne with less frequent usage while avoiding this minor discomfort. At twice per day all traces of the acne resolved within three days.

You are right bud Nizoral (Ketoconazole) has been shown to destroy DHT that is excreted via the sebaceous glands. DHT in the sebum causes infection in the skin in the form of acne. Steroid hormones bump up the production of sebum and DHT so the chances of increased acne is very likely. If you can reduce the sebum rich DHT that is on the surface of the skin you are reducing acne potential. You however dont need to use it twice a day as Ketoconazole is an extremely powerful and long acting drug. Using it once a day as part of a skin care program will give you the desired effects without the severe drying and redness. Give this a try guys this is really a good post and it does work!

Yep. I tried it and it works. Although the version of it I found here in Mexico is only 1%. I believe the otc version in the states is 2%, I use it once a day and while it hasnt totally cleared up my bacne (which was minor to begin with) it seems to have slowed it down a good deal. Less new zits, shorter lifespan of existing acne.

i've been using it every day for a week now but maybe i'm doing it wrong to you just wash with it in the shower then rinse it off or aplly it after the shower and let it dry?

I use it after the shower, using a dollop about the size of a pistachio on my face and another the same size for my shoulders and glutes. I rub it in with a little bit of water and then let it sit for about 3-5 minutes. For my shoulders and glutes I don't rinse it off, but I do for my face.

Im going to give this a try cuz 80mg of accutane a day for about 3 months now and acne is still horrible...maybe adding this will help. Thanks!

ive been using it for about 4 days now twice a day and its cut my acne in half and the bit that is left has faded drastically...good find bud!
