white marks on the nails!

does anyone know what the cause of little white marks on the nails is? ive had them all my life and i take a calcium and mutli vit every day!

I was wrong, RIDGES in the nail are caused by Vit B deficiency. White spots indicate a deficiency in iron or zinc. Just double checked this.

oh and calcium deficiency most commonly causes brittle nails, not white spots btw. hope this helps

yes it sure can be due to trauma. do you get hit on your fingers a lot?
congenital means you inherit it from your parents.
remember that everything works in synergy (their health effects are dependent on the presence of other vitamins and minerals) so simply popping lots of iron and zinc pills could be pointless if you dont absorb it.
my advice is to buy a book about vitamins and learn which forms/amounts/time to take them are the best. for example, vitamin C is almost useless if you dont combine it with bioflavanoids and vitamin E, and unless the vit. E is in the form of d-alpha tocopherol, its not getting absorbed as well as it should be. mixed tocopherols, racemic mixture, etc are crap.

not that by the word "useless" I mean that they are not going to provide you with the therapeutic, beneficial effects like free radical scavenging and illness fighting effects. the only good they'll do is prevent a deficiency disease like scurvy. Needless to say there's too much to type here....they have entire textbooks on this stuff if you care enough to take the time to read them.

well my parants dont have them and ive always been healthy although my small cock didnt grow like it should of done,maybe a zinc deficiancy? is there any type of test i can get done over the net or idf i have to by my gp?

i've had them all my life. They seem to go away when i up my multivitamins. Other than that, they're nothing more to me than white spots.
