I am so pissed off at this new ban on Ephedra I feel like assaulting Mother Theresa. Q for ya'll - ephedra has maybe, and that is a big maybe, contributed to the deaths of 40-50 people nationwide. Soon the sale of it will be illegal. It is has been proven in study after study after study after study that cigarettes annualy kill tens of thousands of Americans. And even for those Americans that do not smoke, second hand smoke is just as deleterious if not moreso than the first hand smoke. Are we as Americans this paralyzed by powerful lobbies that we cannot make progressive changes in the laws that govern our land??? President Bush is a dickhead. dumbbellpress Future Husband of Jennifer Love Hewitt Cowboys 2004 Super Bowl Champs Last edited by dumbbellpress; 12-31-2003 at 04:16 AM. |

Numerous studies have repeatedly shown that ephedrine use is safe and effective for fat loss. It also has a legitimate medical use as a bronchiodilator. IMO, the push behind the ban on ephedrine is from the pharm companies. They havent been able to design a prescription product that has shown more results than a simple OTC supplement that costs 10x less than any script. IIRC, EC was shown to be almost 2x more effective (and with less side effects) than Meridia. The pharm lobby is many factors larger than any supplement lobby and has WAY more money. The lobbies with the most money win. |

Why?? Money, how many lobbyists does the supplement industry have on capitol hill padding the pockets of senators and congressmen? answer = 0 How many lobbyists does the tobacco industry have padding the pockets of these individuals? answer = thousands. Not to mention the "influence" the pharmacuetical industry has on washington, it is kind of hard for drug companies to make ridiculous profits on weight loss drugs when there is a natural legal alternative that works better. So, what do they do? Start a propaganda campaign tracking down every instance of someone getting a freaking headache from ephedra and "educating" the public on the evils of its use. All the while putting prescription weight loss drugs down the throats of fat bastards everywhere that are far more harmful than ephedra could ever be. I am also quite pissed about this, could you tell?

Like someone here said Ephedra works you dont need a prescription for it and the Pharmacuetical companies that OWN BOTH PARTIES was not going to tolerate that.I read a report that said only a few actually died on it the rest had other drugs in their system combined with ephedra but again a few did die and that was all that was needed. I stocked up on it heehee I saw this coming. It last for 5 yrs than goes bad good enough for me.I only take 1 before I workout 3times aweek. You still have time to stock up on it but after the ban dont even consider giving 1 tablet to anyone.Prohormones are next to go because they are also taking money away. If something really works and you can buy it without a prescription its on borrowed time. Darter |

Like has been said before, money is the answer. DBP, I hate to tell you, but 2nd hand smoke is in no way shape or form deleterious(and especially not more deleterious) to someone's health. Good job of seeing through the ephedra propaganda and falling hook, line and sinker for the anti-smoker's propaganda. |
