People regularly make behavioral and lifestyle choices that may reduce their lifespan and/or quality of later years.
Individuals choose sedentary lifestyles. They choose chronic poor diets. They choose to engage in risky sporting activities. They choose to drive above the legally allowed speed limit on a regular basis. They may also choose to seek a pharmaceutically-achieved muscular hypertrophy.
It seems to me hypocritical that the latter is stigmatized and the other "lifestyles" and "behavioral choices" are societally accepted. The statistical probability of negative health consequences are significantly greater with so many other behaviors/lifestyles/choices.
