Austria doubles anti-doping budget Austria doubles anti-doping budget USA Today The Austrian sports ministry has doubled this year's contribution to the national anti-doping agency to euro1.2 million ($1.6 million).
NADA will receive an extra euro535,000 ($695,000) to intensify its fight against banned drugs by implementing new prevention measures, the ministry announced Wednesday.
"We need to do all we can to fight doping," sports minister Norbert Darabos said. "NADA will get my total support."
Austria has been hit by a series of doping scandals in recent years, most notably the confession of retired cyclist Bernhard Kohl that he used the forbidden blood booster CERA during last year's Tour de France. ... More... |
