In a formal statement of charges, the Department of Health alleges that Jones prescribed human growth hormone to two patients who "had no documented evidence of pituitary or hypothalamic disease." In other words, they didn't need it. "I think he should be worried that this medicine has potential long-term side effects that we just don't know about," said Stonesifer. The attorney for Jones denies Jones prescribed human growth hormone unnecessarily and plans to fight the charges.
