Colorado doctor gets 21 months in jail, forfeits $30,000 in Mobile steroids prosecution

Dr. Kelly Wade Tucker stood before a federal judge this afternoon and took his medicine -- a year and 9 months in prison for dispensing anabolic steroids outside the course of professional practice. [...]

The judge allowed Tucker to surrender himself to a federal prison. He also must forfeit $30,000, which prosecutors said is a portion of the gains he received from writing steroids prescriptions.

A written plea agreement signed by Tucker states that he began working with a company called Infinite Health in Eaton, Colo., in September 2005, and bought 5 percent of the business. The document states that the company's founder, Brett Branch, would send Tucker order forms for patients seeking steroids and human growth hormone.

Tucker received $100 a patient, according to defense attorney Jeff Deen.

Branch is scheduled to go on trial in January along with the owners of Applied Pharmacy Services in Mobile, several pharmacists and others.
