According to The Associated Press, the world and European soccer authorities say “there are ‘fundamental differences’ between an individual athlete training alone and one who spends six days a week at a stadium and is ‘easy to locate.’ ” At issue is the WADA requirement that athletes in all sports give drug testers three months’ notice of where they will be when so that random tests can be administered. Juliet Macur reported for The New York Times that such requirements have drawn protest not only from soccer but from Olympic-level athletes in other sports who are required to file their personal whereabouts with drug testers. ...
