Default 5 X 5 and dfht ? for the gurus

I have read all the stickies and have done nothing but dfht and 5x5 style workouts for the past couple of years and love it. My time is limited(especially in the summer) so some weeks no matter what i can only make it to the gym 3 days per week. I was wondering if a good routine to follow would be to do 5X5 on the weeks I can only work out 3 days and DFHT on the days that I can do 4 days. I would still have a deloading week every fifth week or so. Does this sound like a sound plan.

I would stick with whatever program you are following at the time. 5x5 is a 3x/wk program anyway, so that one shouldnt be a problem. If you miss one DFHT workout, just get back on schedule and keep going. I think switching back and forth between the two would cause more problems that the small issue you are trying to overcome.

Thanks for the response Bob. The goal i was trying to achieve with this program was doing workouts that consisted of mainly compound movements whether it be 3 or 4 days per week. I will most likely continue with the DFHT and just start the following week where I left off the previuos week. Either way I should still see more gains than a 1 body part per day workout.

You could always just stick with the 5X5 so that on the weeks you only have three days it's the days you're supposed to be lifting anyway. Then, on the weeks when you happen to have an extra freee day, maybe you could do some general fitness type stuff.

Personally, I think running stadiums are fantastic, though it does suck nuts. Jumping rope, jogging, maybe even sled pulling might be a good idea to keep you active while still not interfering with your program. What else is there? Maybe you could swim. That's a pretty low impact, high results workout. I don't know if you're gay or not, but you could always pick up a game or four of basketball if you are. (that was a joke)

Really, anything physical would work. I think, anyway. See, to me, this makes more sense than trying to time out the DFHT on a weird schedule. Just my thoughts on the matter.
