Default 5x5 on AAS.. help

I looked for this in the program post but didnt see anything on this so I have to ask.

I have started the 5x5 because everyone seems to have great gains with it. Im on a cycle and have about 8 weeks left. I want to know what part of the program I should be doing while I'm on PCT. Should I load for the 4 weeks, deload with the 3x3 for 3 weeks then start the 5x5 over again for my PCT so the workouts are more intense? or should i run the 3x3 longer and start my PCT while on it?

Thanks for the help in advance

I would suggest that your 2 weeks of PCT be done while using the 3x3's. Or even better, 1 set of 3. It will be easier to keep gains while utilizing lowered volume with the same load, as when on.

If you have a TRUE 8 weeks left (meaning that you'll be using short acting compounds for weeks 7 and 8 while the long esters clear), then you could run the program as is with 4 - 5x5 weeks, 1 deloading, 3 - 3x3, 2 - 1 x 3.

I think I will go with the 4 5x5 weeks, 1 deload, 3 3x3, and 2 1x3. Is this a good workout while your on AAS or is there another training program that would be better while on? I have just noticed people saying they use the 5x5 after their cycles. I guess I could always start it over again after everythin is done..

The program is good regardless of whether you are on or not. The only thing I hate is when guys first try it as they are going off gear and dieting at the same time. That's not really fair to any program.

I dont think I'm going to be dieting anytime soon, so I should have a good idea of what the program can do.

Thanks for the info

I apologize that I forgot to ask.....but what is your MAIN goal? If strength is it, then what I suggested would suit you best.

If however, you are more concerned about size, then you may want to utilize AM's DFHT. During PCT, you would still want to lower the volume, but keep the weight high. Maybe just 2 days a week with 5x5's, or even 2x5.

Actually, I want both. Theres no point in being big if you dont have any strength to back it up. Im not doing this all for looks but it is nice to pack on some weight while on my cycle..

So your saying if my goal was just to get bigger, I should do 5x5 or 2x5 instead of 3x3, 2 times a week and use heavy weight?

Sorry about the delay....life was in the way. Honestly, both are great programs for either goal. In fact, I'd venture to say that the difference in the results would be miniscule at best. How you eat would most likely be the determining factor.

All I'm saying with regard to the PCT and training is to stay heavy. Be that 5 or 3 reps....it doesn't matter. But doing 20 rep volume stuff while in PCT is not the best approach....IMHO.

I should have left it alone after I suggested the 5x5. So that's what I'll do. You seem as though you've never tried it, so why not.
