Unhappy 5x5's help!

Sup guys, I hurt myself doing weight chins last week. I was wondering if I can do dips instead of benching until I this pain goes away? I don't really feel "pain", but something in the area near my front delt and pec gets really sore when I begin to bench. It feels like my soreness in the area never went away. So I can do dips in place of benching until I get better?

-thank you-

I wouldn't, If you think you are on the verge of an injury, you should probably take some time off.. Now, if it's just soreness..... that's a whole different situation altogether.

Better safe than sorry bro..

KD, If you're really sure that you can avoid injury by doing the dips, then thats fine...do the dips.

However, if you think you're gambling at all, you should probably take Phreezers advice.

That said, I know that personally, I train around injuries rather than taking time off. Of course I don't get injured frequently.

So do you think I should do every thing but chins and bench? And it's more then soreness becease this soreness hasn't gone away yet. Couldn't I just do legs and rows for a while? God I'll hate to sit at home wishing I was at the gym but if I don't chill out I mess around and tear something.

Freddy, I don't feel the "pain" when I dip, only when I do standing presses, chins and bench. I think I only pulled something during weigthed chins, I had only two plates so I'm kind of shocked that I hurt myself, this is a first for me.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd train around it by doing the dips.

Is it smart? No, not in the long term. But generally I already train smart enough that I take those kinds of chances.
