I just started running on the treadmill again today. I ran 0.5 miles at 5.0 mph. My goal is to run 2 miles at 6.0 mph. I am going to increase the speed or the distance a little bit every few days until I reach this goal. I am going to run 3-4 times per week. I feel that listening to too many bodybuilders online makes me not want to be in good cardiovascular shape. Boxers run a lot, and they are the best conditioned athletes in the world; football players are also studs, and they do a lot of running too, although they are more sprint oriented. Bodybuilders are actually poorly conditioned most of the time. And yes I have seen it to believe it, so please no one tell me that I'm full of shit; I didn't say 100% of all lifters. I know I have lost a lot of endurance since I started reading a lot of these boards online. This isn't meant to be negative, because I've learned so many good things on here that I never knew before, but I have to be honest and say that the bodybuilder/powerbuilder lifestyle isn't the best for overall health. |
