Hi I bought an electionic device to measure bodyfat. It says I have a 27+ % body fat which on its scale is mildly-overwieght. I am 5'-11 @185 lb. I do have some fat, but not 27%. Is there a conversion method for these devices, or is it best to junk it. How do most people here test themselves? Thank you |

How do you know you're not 27%? A lot of the time those BMI calculators and the electronic testers are incorrect. A lot of people with muscle mass get in the 25+ range because the device can't figures the muscle mass of an average adult. Your best bet is to get a body fat caliper, which measure the fold of your skin and calculates your body fat more accurately. Calipers are usually around $15 and come with instructions and can be very useful. Search on google and look for trusty online stores that carry them or look at local sporting goods stores. |
