Well...you realize chains and boards aren't perfect substitutions for each other, right? True...they both develop lockout and top end strength...but chains will build speed as well.

But, there are a lot of variations for chains. Bench press with chains, chain suspended bench press, floor press with chains, chain suspended floor press, chain partial presses, all done with wide, medium, and close grips.

Well...those chains sound too light...unless you're using a lot of them. What do you bench?

Go to www.elitefts.com you can buy chains there. If thats too expensive, just read how big the chains are and go to a hardware store and buy them at those dimensions.

Bench press with chains: Attach the chains to the bar, let them hang down onto the floor, and bench press.

Chain suspended bench press: Go into a power rack, and attach the chains to the top of the rack, so they hang down. Attach them to the barbell so it hangs above your chest. You can try different heights. Most people prefer somewhere between the middle and the top of the bench...but some people also do it right off their chest.

Floor press with chains: A floor press with the chains hanging onto the floor from the barbell.

Chain suspended floor press: Exactly what it sounds like. Combine the previous two.

Chain partial press: Do pin presses in the power rack with the chains hanging off the barbell onto the floor.

Go to www.elitefts.com and look in the exercise index for pictures of all of these.

Well, you'd have to clip a lot of 2.5s and 5s all over the chain up and down for it to deload as the bar moves up and down.
