during softball season i really cant bench b/c of tendonitis and overuse in my elbow. Use dumbbells instead. Not near the pressure on your elbows

I have. Elbow was sore for weeks from powerlifting. I ignored it as the weights kept going up. I was warming up and it hurt but kept going as I had a big lift scheduled. Put 355 on the bar (should have gone up easy) before maxing out. Lifted and the elbow just gave up. Weight went straight to my chest. Thank GOD for a strong spotter as he basically did a 355 bent over row without a warmup. Best thing is to leave it alone for 2 to 3 weeks.

How old are you /? tendonitis sucks and takes a very long time to heal..it is hard to work around..Any exercise that hurts it should be avoided.Be carefull on doing heavy bi curls and do not attempt brain crushers.Has the pain shot across the top of the forearm yet ?One more thing ..cortisone shots do mask the pain but that can cause the problem to get even worse.Do not try and be a MAN and work through the pain..this may seem like a minor injury but can be serious and shut you down.

If it was recent get some 16% menthol liniment and rub it before going to bed. Get an elbow brace and wear it during the night and day for the first 2-3 weeks. Later use it only during the night.

After the 2 weeks start slowly doing rehab exercises and see which movements cause pain. It sucks and it takes a long time to eliminate, but if you don't act now there is a chance it becomes chronic and gives you further problems.

I had this problem happen while benching in 2000 and 7 years later it still gives me troubles from time to time and have to really really warm up before heavy benching.
