Well done man.

How long have you been working out? How old are you?

Were you wearing a suit?

Thanks. I've been powerlifting since my junior year in college or there abouts (so about two-three years). I had just turned 23 at the time of the competition. And yes I was wearing a suit. I also weighed in at 214.5 the morning of the competition.

Thanks... and yeah, that is a common mistake alot of people make, standing up too soon. I'm shooting for a 700 for early next year and a 650 before the end of the summer. Last week I managed a 585 for a triple without a suit so I'm pretty confident on that. Good luck with your goal(s).

Thank you, but it's more of a plan not a goal because i will do it LOL ... But really, i was working Box Deads up to 365 but with alot more back than i should have been using .. It is a little harder to get proper form with Box but i'm sure you know what i mean .. I am now working regular deads and today was just working with 315 for a few sets of 5 reps and last 6 reps so i can go more .. Just wanted to keep weight lighter because still felt muscle sorness from heavy squats on Mon ... I have a mirror in front of me and another on the side just a little further but i can see very well my form just before i lift off .. I am happy with it but as we all know form can be great when working with weights well within limits .. I won't say what i THINK i can get because that would do me no good at all .. Maybe Sun i will go again with max weights this time but max weights for 5 reps no lower ... Not yet anyway ... 650 at your weight is great .. Guys can talk all they want about what they can do but i don't really take much serious until i see it with my own eyes and from what i saw, you got that shit down .. How tall are you?

Not from seeing how you look because didn't really notice, just thought i rememberd you being smaller and very strong?? was that you .. Anyway, if you are more into strength, i may have to start taking some advice from you ..

Thanks. I'm 6'2" and yeah I used to be around a bit more, but I've been busy with training (I'm a navigator in the AirForce). Yeah, I also mainly do powerlifting and strongman type stuff; not a big fan of bbing for the most part. I'm looking forward to getting away from this base in the near future so that I can quit running as much and get some implements to lift with.

I noticed you said you had mirrors to check your form for your deads. While this might seem to be a good idea, it is one I generally advise against. I always look up at the ceiling to keep my head back and legs in line. I've found that when people star looking at a mirror, either in front of them or to the side, one of two things happens: either they lose focus or they start bending. Well I take that back maybe three things, alot of people will stand up to soon also. What you might want to do is have a spotter or some one you trust that understands form there with you to give you some input...... just my two cents worth though.

pax,
GS
