We must have started a trend of grunting around the entire nation.
In the past two months I have seen 2 articles about it in my magazines. One article in maxim talks about leaving the grunting for the guys puttin up more than 400. And then Muscle and fitness tried to pull some bullshit saying grunting doesnt help your lifts so dont do it. F#@K 'Em

But the worst, was a gym that was advertising as being a "hardcore" gym, but they actually had a damn GRUNT ALARM. If you grunted at ALL, or even talked too loudly, an alarm would go off and then a voice would ask you to politely keep it down. I walked out of that place asap.

we can thank planet fitness for starting this crap about grunting. they invented the no judgement zone in their fitness centers because they want fat people to stay fat! thats how they make their money because if you train and acheive your golas you may quite, if you dont make any progress towards your goals and you see a bunch of awesome looking dudes/women who hyave incredible muscularity, you would get discouraged and quit. bottom line is if you stay fat you will keep going and paying the trainer in hopes that you will someday loose weight and look great LOL

What i used to hate is when you wanted to do some heavy squats or work partials on squats or dead lift their was always some pencil neck shit for brains in the power rack or squat racks doing barbel curls with a weight I could hang from my family jewels! These types take forever as they talk between set's get lots of water etc...............Same type that complain about grunting too loud......... Then when they do ask for advice they never take it and wounder why they are not making any progress!

A lot places do not allow chalk anymore either and for a power lifter chalk is to them what a protein shake and egg whites is to body builders it is a staple of the trade especially with the the wimpy bars that are circulating at most gyms today!

my gym is trying to hold onto as many members as possible in this economy. So they put out a wish list. Mine included: bumper plates (so I can drop the barbells), more yelling and grunting, gymnastic rings, take out some of the mirrors so I don't have to worry about breaking the glass when I practice handstand push ups.

Quoting from a respected member on my other forum...

''I'd rather listen to the sounds of hard work than the sounds of polite weakness.''

I couldn't agree more.
