Re: How to shrink waistline? diet/exercises/do's and don'ts
My main question to you is, what is your crunch/ab routine and frequency?
I'm not a 30 inch waist guy (33 here) and you can't see my six pack because of my own layer of subcutaneous fat, but I can feel it, so its definitely there. I'm forever tying to work on cutting myself, but I believe an ab routine is key. I have also noticed markable hardening and defininition increases with waistine decreases (i think this allows better form and targeting of the abs).
Wel I first started working out, I would do as many as 500 crunches, though didnt work lower abs. Nowadays I do both. I usually do upper aps on an ab bench in three different leg positions (feet flat on floor, then flat on bench, then elevated) and in a rep count of 150-50-50 or 100-75-75. Then I do lower abs (leg raises on decline). usually only 2 sets 25 - 30 reps total.
One mistake I see time and time again at the gym is that people fail to bend when they do crunched. their back remain rigid, and when crunching, there is an almost compacting motion of the torso happening. the lower back should rest on the bech and should be a pivot point.
As far as form goes, when doing crunches with feet flat on floor, at end of rep, totally releas all tension of the abdominals by waiting 1 second before starting next rep and at start of rep, slightly lift legs off floor to get good tension at start of reps.
I;d recommend smaller meals, at least before workout, if but to get better range of motion, which should help alot. Unfortunately, you may not really see your abs pop until your waistline has shrunk significantly. (I used to be a 36 waist at my heaviest when younger).
