I don't even work my back directly because i have no problem in that area,but when i did,i found my biceps gave out before i could get in a good lat workout,so i used pre-exhaustion sets right before lat pulldowns. .. I do my lat pulldowns in front of my head too

manwhore, what you mean by pre-exhaustion sets . i do have the same problem. can you please Explain the way to be done.

in addition to the rows mentioned above, deads, cleans, snatch, and weighted CHINS/PULLUPS. Forget about the lat pulldowns. They don't compare to any of the preceding exercises.

Good rule of thumb....Any lift in which you can move your entire body, is almost always better than a lift for the same muscle group, that is done in a stationary position. Case in point, glute/ham raise vs. leg curl. Or in your case, lat pulldown vs. chins.
