Happens all the time. Sometimes I can't even see for a couple seconds after a heavy lift. Make sure you have enough hair in your belly before you lift, other then that I'm not sure of how to avoid it.

You will be fine, Natural reaction is to hold your breathe when lifting. It can be hard to avoid it. Like prodigy said make sure you have plenty of air and after the lift do your best to take deep slow breathes and if it gets real bad make sure you are low to the ground just in case you pass out. Which happens too to some. Cory

Thanks Prodigy, Cory. Will pay closer attention to breathing. I know I always take in a big hit of air before the lift, but now that you've said this, I'm almost willing to bet I'm holding my breath through most of the lift. Regards, B230 |

Blood pressure is well within acceptable limits and recently stopped taking NO Explode, so I'm fine on both counts. One thing I'm curious about is if you get accustomed to deadlifting at a certain weight and the lightheadedness diminishes or goes away until you try a progressively heaver weight? Thanks.

You want a headrush do glute/ham or as some call it back hyperextension holding a few plates for about 10 reps then hop up real quick. Centrifugal force= Face full of blood. Iam too smart for it now and immedeatly drop into a ninja crouch and take deep breaths otherwise I go to lala land.

I like to watch powerlifters going for max deadlifts Pull the weight up and then let it drop back to the floor. If I didn't have to worry about getting thrown out, I'd try that. Bet that would shake the ceiling in the offices below the gym.
