An excellent program for gaining strength is on t-mag.com, and the article is by Charles Staley titled: "From Russia With Love: Two Six Week Peaking Programs from the Former USSR." While I doubt that Verkhoshansky actually designed the programs, they definitely work and I am going to keep using them until I feel confident that I can design a program that is better. I have been using the soviet peaking cycle on there for 4 months now, and my strength has exploded. I do CG Bench 2 days a week, and Squats or Deadlifts on the other 2 days, with auxillary exercises with each. Basically my CG day is my upper body day, and my squat/DL days are my lower body days. If you decide to look at it and have any questions as to how I set it up, LMK and I'll be more than glad to help. I have tried the 5x5, DFHT, and just about every other program under the sun, and this is by far the best in terms of having an effective program laid out for you.
