I wanted to start out by saying hello to everyone and this is the first thread I've started on Meso so any feedback wouldbe greatly appreciated. I have been on a steady regiment of lifting as heavy as possible and I am now getting into uncharted territory for myself. Next chest day I plan to go up in bench to 500 lbs. Currently 420 at 5 reps is no problem. My question is at this weight what equipment should I use? I currently have wrist supports but should I be using elbow sleeves as well. The only poor form I use is to keep my head up during (off the bench) Is this bad pratice at this weight. Keep in mind I do not bounce the weight nor arch my back. Simple question but very important to me. [color=Black]

Thanks Matt, I will look into the shirt. I only thought they were good for standing exercises (squats, deadlifts) yet it seems like I need to purchase one. Thanks for the compliment it means alot. I came back from sickness about 2 years ago and when I hit the gym for the first time weighing 180 and barely pushing 160. Now at 260 and schooling most guys at the local Golds I am very proud of what I have done but very modest. I might compete later down the road but I feel I need to be more seasoned. Any tips would help. |

Start keeping your head on the bench. Or when you compete you will slip into your old babits and be disqualified. None of the competitve powerlifters that I train wi th use a shirt except the last couple weeks before a competition. And a couple of these guys are at about 500lbs.

i keep my head off the bench. in the ipa, apf, you can . as far as waiting to be more seasoned thats crazy!! order you a double denium shirt from inzer or karin . train one day raw, and one day with a shirt. it takes time to learn how to use one but well worth it . i myself bench 500 . without a shirt. and i want 650 at the ipa nationals in november in the 220 class. so you could maybe bench 600 to 700lbs with a little work in the 275lb class. |

the inzers look good but I might go with the titan fury. Looks like a better deal and decent feedback. I want a moderate fit for safety but not too snug I dont want the shirt to compensate for strength. today's chest day and I'll hop up to 420-430 then go from there. hopefully before the end of october we can hit 500. thanks for the help |
