Personally,as soon as i feel something is not right(not to be confused with soreness from a heavy workout),i go straight to my physio, sometimes paying for a couple of sessions to find out exactly what you've done and how to prevent it happening again, and get it treated is well worth the pennies.Rest may ease the pain itself but from my own experience you could walk back in the gym lift a weight and your back to square one.

if you havent allready, try putting ice on it(bag of peas in a thin tea towel works for me)for 15 mins at a time, and some ibuprofen also helps keep inflammation down, but after 3 weeks not sure if thats of any help now.

Bro, A lot of times when you rip or tear a muscle it will bleed out and leave a indentation where it tears. When it bleeds out it will look like a bruise to that area. I have seen pec tears where peoples underarm and stomach will turn blue to black after tearing. Apply ice to to area 20 minutes on and off and see if it doesn't get better. |

Its not a 100% accurate indicator, but its a very sure sign. If there is no bruising, then I wouldn't worry too much. I've pulled a bunch of muscles. If its healing in a week, then you're fine. I've had a few (groin, hamstring) that take much longer than that to heal from pulling. |
