I don't understand why this happens but anytime I try doing chins or even sometimes pulldowns but ususally only chins after doing deadlifts when Im done my set and let go to stand on the floor my back locks up and I usually cant even move for a good 2-3 minutes. Its extremley painful. It happens everytime so now when I design I program I usually keep chins out or do them first.Which sucks cuz then I cant go so heavy on deads. The pain seems to be coming from my spine and it happens only with chincs after deads.I get no pain from rows,or even the deadlift themselves. |

DZL, hit it right on the spot. Maybe arching your back past the normal back mode, if all else fails suspend back routine completely, or get a adjustment with chiropractor, you'll be surprize what this adjustment will do. Take it easy bro, it's hell to start all over again with your present gains. Later Chis

Or it could possibly be from doing chins with a straight body position, especially after deads. You should always keep your hips and knees bent, keeps pressure off the spine. Looking at you from the side, I should see your knees an equal distance from your body's centerline as your feet. Also...don't do them in the same workout....do chins with back and deads on leg or hamstring day. |

Another kicker, especially with the back. Watch when doing leg presses try not to twist upper body during full extension of the legs. I did this pressing heavy and effected my sciatic nerve from the lower lumbar (L-5) to my achilles tendon, you talk about pain, when I stretched my back I could feel the pulling sensation of the nerve running down my left leg. Just a quick note again about the Back, take care bro Chis
