Okay, funny title, serious problem. I'm 44, and about as strong as I can get without doing squats. Everyone knows you need squats and deads for maximum mass... Problem is every time I do squats, I end up with (I can't wait for the potty humor) hemmoroids. WTF? Is there something I'm missing in Form or technique? I do not 'strain at the stool' or do anything else that causes this problem. My loaf cutter is in fine shape if I just don't do squats or deads. But I can't get my mass up either... I'm stuck at 16.5 arms no matter what, and everyone tells me I need squats to do the trick (release hgh, etc). I try leg presses, but even those I have problems with, though not as much. I can at least do 3 sets or so before I need to get worried the next day. Any thoughts, aside from the natural joy many of you will get from my predicament? Thanks!

the vulsalva menuver? Is that like when your ship is about to be photon torpedoed by the Klingons, and you jump to warp for a microsecond, end up behind them and hit em with phasers? heh heh... but seriously, thanks for the advice. I tried doing the leg press machine, thought that might be safer, but still had some problems, so I'm going to give it a few weeks and try the press again. The bad luck this time may merely be occuring due to the initial blow out (grin). I 'THOUGHT' I was controlling my breathing, but you know, I wasn't conscious the whole time, and I know i tend to hold my breath when straining, so it's possible breathing is the key. I thought it wasn't, but bottom line is no honest proof. Thanks again man. Quote:
