Default StrongMan Equiptment ??

Anyone know where i can get some really good strongman equiptment ?? Maybe some things that are aren't seen on other equiptment sites... Maybe some instructions on how to make some equiptment because i am pretty good with my hands and tools .. I have a few things in mind. They have many size metal bars at the hardware store near me and i am thinking of drilling some holes so i can hang some chains and weights on them for squating .. I would actually like to make my own stuff because i feel good when i make something with my own hands as opposed to buying it .. SO any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Hi there

I see no-one posts a reply here, so I will..

first of all, let me tell you I'm not a strongman, professional powerlifter or whatever..

Just a guy who likes to lift weight in his spare time. Nevertheless... I wanted to share with you some things I do since I don't have much pro-gear myself.

All I really have bought in a shop is an ab king pro bench (yeah from the commercials.. I got rid of the bar on which you put your hands and set the bench flat or incline..). I also bought two dumbbells, a barbell and some weights. My rack is just two plastic chairs (see attachment) between which I lie on the bench. That's how I barbell bench press. I also use the chairs to squat. I then put a wooden piece of shelf under the chairs to get them up a bit higher. I put the barbell on the chairs, stand under them and use this for squats..

As for wheelflip training. I read a couple of times that pro-strongman simply get a big tractor tire or something from a junkyard.. Could be usefull..

For pull-ups.. well.. how to explain exactly.. I have a little.. "shed" in the backyard.

Inside, on the roof there are some beams. I hung a piece of strong rope around a beam, there was just enough space for that (also in attachment). Two of these ropes make it possible for me to pull-up. Although the beams may suffer a bit..

I know it's not much.. and propably quite a late reply.. but hopefully this helps you!

I'll post some more if I happen to think of something I'mf orgetting right now.

Train hard! ;-)

NB: If you would have any tips for me I havn't thought of yet, since you know have an idea of how I train, those would be more than welcome to.

@Filippe

It looks like you are on your way to get hurt....I would invest some money into some better (used is good too) equipment or just join a gym....What you doing right now will only get your hurt...

Hi there "Bosnian brawler"

Thanks for your reply, I really wasn't expecting any anymore... so it's a pleasant surprise.

Yeah, get myself hurt.. I can see your point.

I did forget to mention in my first message that I actually do have I spotter. When I'm benchpressing with the barbell, squatting or doing a clean and jerk I ask my brother to keep an eye on me and stand by to assist.

Besides, I need a spotter (like most people I guess..) to help me getting the barbell of the "rack" and putting it back decently when bench pressing.

I did get hurt one time but that was during my first-ever deadlift attempt. I was really just pulling off some crazy moves with quite a heavy weight..... stupid of me, I know, I learned my lesson

But as far as the chaires go being used as a rack... that's been going fine so far really.. given my spotter's around that is

biggest problem really whas the pulling/chinning. I totally improvised on that :d when I saw the rope in a local shop. It reminded me of MR T as Clubber lang, training in ROCKY 3

Now don't think I'm trying to get out of this easily. I do appreciate your concern and advice.

If you have any other "ready-to-use" tips I would really like to hear them.

Besides, if not too much trouble I would like to hear how you train. At home, in a gym..?

Which exercises do you mainly use..? records on weights being used? Just to get a good general idea.

Thanks and see you round.

Filippe
