I am huge fan of the 5x5 and have been doing it for a couple years now. I have noticed recently that my elbows and knees have developed a bit of a grinding and click when I bench and OLY squat. It happens at the bottom of the motion in both cases. I take glucosamine and fish oil daily. It doesnt hurt, and oddly enough it seems to be worse when i am warming up with light weight. any thoughts? thanks migity |

Mine do that too. My knees pop and grind a lot, especially when I warm up with little or no weight when I squat. But not so much with heavier weight. Mine aren't painful, but it is uncomfortable. Seems like something could go wrong. Funny thing is that I started to notice it after doing a 5X5 routine earlier this year. Strange. Sorry I have nothing helpful to add, curious about this myself. |

Some people have loser ligaments and tendons, its completely normal as long as it doesnt cause pain. As for not creaking during heavy sets, that can be explained with simple concepts, one the hydrostatic pressure is far higher, so the fluid that IS inside your meniscus (Sp) sacs is pushed to the outside and is under pressure, just like you can use less oil in an oil system if the pressure is higher. Also, the velocity is generally lower on heavier sets so there is obviously less contact traversing per second inside the joint. Take a creaky door and experiment
