Question Hit a plateau

Hi, I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place.

I've been exercising for the last year, I do weights and cardio, 3 times a week, I'm hoping to do the London Marathon next year.

I want to lose weight, but I am unable to. I've used Ephidrine and Caffine, I've had tests for thyroid function as well a everthing else under the sun, and the doctor says its in the 'normal range'.

At present I'm 150 lbs and 5.2".

I must admit I haven't been training much in the last couple of months because I've got disheartened at not being able to lose weight.

I've tired high protein diets for losing weight, I've tried high carb diets for when I'm marathon training, and I cannot shift it. At my lowest I was 133lbs and exercising 6 days a week. My metabolism is out the window - in fact I don't think I've got one.

My b/f suggested T3, but wasn't sure if anyone else had any ideas.

Part of the puzzle you have answered yourself.....150 lbs working out 3 times per week vs. 130 lbs working out 6 times per week.Sounds like you need to get your metabolism up and running..have you tried exercising/cardio 1st thing in the morning..even before you eat ? And by the way you have not hit a Plateau..from what you are describing. The worst thing you can do right now is get discouraged and quit..it's time to take your training to a new level..find a work out partner..go see a profesional personal trainer..look for a book called "LOOK GREAT NAKED" it's on amazon .com..good luck

You DID drop 17lbs. How is that not losing weight? Furthermore, don't jump around on diets or training. Stick with something for 3 months. You won't see ANY results if you change your diet every 2 weeks.

thanks for all that guys.

I obviously wasn't clear enough.

I have been training (running mainly and a few weights).

Using up to 1000 calories a session.

Now I've dropped my calorie intake, and training less due to the fact I'm studying as well as working so can't fit it all in.

I don't believe in diets as such, but I do watch what I eat, I do have a diet to suit my lifestyle and training.

I was a professional athlete throughout my teens so know how to look after myself in the respect.

I have put on 27lbs due to the reduced amount of exercise, even though I have reduced my calorie intake.

I'm will start to up my training again, as I need to lose the weight in order to start training for the london marathon next year, but I don't want to end up injuring myself due to the excess weight I'm carrying around.

I don't know how many times you eat aday, but eat clean, eat several small meals throughout the day and keep your cardio up. Most important you must remain consistant and not give up. Being consistant is the most important thing a person can do, nothing will be acomplished without it. Good luck.

Hi there,
My suggestions are quite generic and nothing that reveals any revelations but I will put it out there anyway.
Even though you dont believe 'in diets and such' what you eat profoundly affects what your body looks like. I would suggest taking your calories down slightly (not a lot) from the amount you were eating to maintain. Get at least 120 grams of good protein a day and keep the simple carbs modest. eat 5 or 6 small meals a day and be consistant and diligent with your trianing.
You gotta keep on keepin' on. I have 2 kids and after both of them I had to get 'back in shape'
I never doubted that I would. Dont doubt yourself. You WILL get stronger and leaner if you do what it takes. Its impossible NOT to. You just have to keep your eye on the ball and not give up.
You can be in the best shape you have ever been in.

Good Luck
